Q - What is Windows Password Reset?
A - Password Reset is a service used to remove the login password for any local Window's user account in case it is forgotten or unknown. This software solution saves the time consuming and costly process of reformatting the hard drive and losing all your valuable data.
Q - Will it remove other passwords besides Windows such as my email password?
A - No. Password Reset is designed to remove the login password for Windows only. No other passwords can be removed, including email, Facebook, Vonage, hard drive, or any other password. All other passwords are stored on private servers which are illegal for me to access. I am only able to help with a Microsoft Windows login password on a computer that belongs to you, or you are working under the permission of the owner of that computer.
Q - Does it really work?
A - Absolutely! Password Reset has been helping Window's users all over the world who have forgotten their login passwords for over 6 years now. It is an honest, trustworthy company, located in the USA. I prominently display my contact information and am here to help you resolve your password issue as quickly and painlessly as possible.
Q - Will Password Reset work on a BIOS password?
A - No. Password Reset works on Window's login passwords only. BIOS passwords are a hardware password and not related to Windows in any way. If your computer is a desktop machine (not a laptop), I should be able to guide you in removing the BIOS password for your computer. Laptops are considerably more difficult, and I may not be able to help with that type of BIOS password. Please contact me for more info.
Q - Is Password Reset a Window's program?
A - Yes & No. The process of creating the boot disc or USB drive is done using a Windows computer. Once you've created the Password Reset boot device, it is a DOS based program which you run on your computer with the forgotten password, but outside the Windows environment.
Q - I thought DOS was old and outdated?
A - Absolutely not. DOS has always been and continues to be the fundamental backbone for Windows. There are other password utilities that are based on Linux instead of DOS. You should be aware that Linux is very unreliable with DOS files, and often times will fail to reset a Windows password. I have had many customers who have paid for a Linux program, only to find out it wouldn't work, yet they were successful with my product.
Q - How many times can I use Password Reset?
A - You can use Password Reset multiple times. Please see my Activation Key order page for further details on the proper licensing needed for business use such as a repair environment.
Q - How does the process work?
A - You will create a bootable CD/DVD, USB drive, or floppy disc which your will use to remove any user account password, allowing you to log back into Windows. Full, detailed instructions are provided, they include screen-shots as well to show you what you should be seeing when creating and running the password removal software.
Q - I only have access to a Macintosh computer to create the disc.
A - Mac's do have the option to burn the type of file required to create our CD/DVD version. Even though you will create the disc on a Mac, it will work on your Windows computer in order to reset your Windows password. The .iso file needed to create the CD/DVD boot disc is located on our Free Download page.
Q - Can I use my computer with the forgotten password to create the boot disc by logging in as Guest?
A - No. Guest mode does not have the privileges that allow you to run the software required to create the boot disc. You normally would need to be logged in as an Administrator privileged user. In order to create our boot devices, you do need access to a computer other than the one with the forgotten password.
Q - Which Windows operating systems will this work on?
A - This disc will reset your local passwords on any NT based Windows operating system including Windows NT, 2000, XP, Vista, Windows 7, 2003 and 2008 Server, as well as any versions not mentioned. To find out if it will work on yours, simply try the free download to confirm compatibility with your hardware.
Q - Will I be able to access my files when I log in?
A - Yes, under typical, normal circumstances, you will have access to all files on the computer after resetting your password. In the rare case that you have any files that are encrypted, they will not be accessible without the original password. By default, files are NOT encrypted, so this is not likely going to affect you.
Q - Will this reset my administrator password?
A - Yes, it will reset the Administrator password as well as any other local user account passwords you want to remove. Many Windows versions do not use the Administrator account by default. Be sure you are resetting the correct account when running our software.
Q - Do you offer technical support?
A - Yes, just visit the support forum or go to our Contact Us page to get prompt, friendly, customer support.
Q - Will this work on Windows 95, 98 or Millennium?
A - These operating systems have a very easy password fix that doesn't require you to use Password Reset. Just delete the .pwl file in your Windows directory. Password Reset is only needed with NT based versions as indicated a couple of answers above.
Q - I'm not very good with computers, do you really think that I can use these discs?
A - Yes! We are available to assist you 7 days a week including holidays. With a little patience, we have helped many users with very limited computer skills.
Q - My CD drive won't boot, what do I do?
A - Most computers are set to automatically check the CD drive for a boot disc before moving on to the hard drive. In the case that your computer is not set this way already, you will need to change the boot priority in your system BIOS. This is not as scary as it sounds and our instructions give you information on changing this as well.
